The SoE CARES microbadge recognizes students who:
- Translate community-defined needs into engineering problem statements
- Apply engineering design, analysis, modeling, simulation, or prototyping
- Integrate applicable engineering and safety standards
- Engage in iterative design with community partners
- Deliver professionally documented, sustainable engineering solutions
Badge evaluation is conducted by the SoE Community Engagement Committee (CEC) based on:
- Engineering rigor
- Standards compliance
- Documentation quality
- Partner engagement and satisfaction
- Evidence of sustainability and long-term impact
