"Get involved early! Taking advantage of opportunities opens countless doors for personal and professional growth." -Eva Brozosky

After earning her SoE BS degree in environmental engineering, rising senior and Honors College member Eva Brozosky hopes to continue her education by earning a master's degree before pursuing a career focused on sustainability in the U.S. An active student leader, she has taken advantage of research and internship opportunities to gain hands-on knowledge and experience in her chosen field.

Why Rutgers?

I chose Rutgers for the Honors College experience and the opportunities that come with attending a large state university. With so many environmental programs, it has been the perfect place to pursue my passion!

What do you most like about your environmental engineering major?

I am passionate about environmental sustainability, so I love studying topics I care about while being surrounded by others who share my passion.

What stands out about your Honors College experience?

It has provided me with incredible educational and professional opportunities while also introducing me to a close community of like-minded friends.

Do you have a favorite professor?

Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering Assistant Professor Yalin Li has been my favorite professor.

What research projects have you been involved in?

During my freshman year, I conducted microbial biogeochemistry research with Jeffra Schaefer, an associate research professor at Rutgers School of Environmental Sciences, or SEBS, through the Aresty Research Program. My findings were published in the Aresty Research Center's Rutgers Undergraduate Research Journal.

As a junior, I worked with Abigail Andrews, a post-doctoral associate, at the Rutgers Center for Urban Policy Research on community resilience hubs.

What about your internships?

After my freshman and sophomore years, I interned with PTP, Inc., an environmental health and safety consulting firm. Last summer, I also represented Rutgers at the Korea University Climate Corps Conference in Seoul.

This summer, I am an environmental engineering intern at Hale

y & Aldrich, an environmental and engineering consulting firm.

Have you been involved in any extracurriculars?

I serve as president of Students for Environmental and Energy Development (SEED) and have held several leadership positions in my professional engineering fraternity, Theta Tau.

I'm also an environmental engineering student representative on the SEBS Governing Council.

What has surprised you the most about Rutgers Engineering?

I was surprised by how expansive the School of Engineering is. There are endless opportunities to meet new people and learn from students pursuing so many engineering fields.

What do you think you'll miss the most after you graduate?

I'll miss the sense of community and the learning environment within Rutgers Engineering.

Do you have any advice for future students?

Get involved early! Joining organizations and taking advantage of opportunities opens countless doors for personal and professional growth.

What three words best describe your SoE experience so far?

Challenging. Rewarding. Empowering.
