SoE #1 in the New Jersey/New York Region – and a Top 50 U.S. Engineering School
U.S. News & World Report’s (USNWR) 2026-27 rankings place Rutgers University’s School of Engineering (SoE) as the top public undergraduate engineering program in the New Jersey and New York region.
USNWR has also ranked Rutgers #26 among the nation’s public engineering programs and #46 out of its more than 200 national undergraduate engineering program rankings.
“These ratings not only reflect Rutgers-New Brunswick’s overall 2026-27 U.S. News & World Report’s ranking as the #14 top public university in the nation but embody the School of Engineering’s unwavering dedication to our students, fostering the exploration and discovery of innovative solutions that are at once transformative, sustainable, and impactful,” says School of Engineering Dean Alberto Cuitiño.

First-year students jumpstart the pursuit of their passions with our ID3EA Program by exploring all ten of our majors. Hands-on learning provides early engagement with engineering principles and experiential learning, resulting in the school’s nearly 95% retention rate from first year to sophomore year.
