Center for Advanced Infrastructure and Transportation (CAIT)

Rutgers Center for Advanced Infrastructure and Transportation (CAIT) tackles some of the country’s most pressing infrastructure challenges, especially those that are endemic in high-volume multimodal corridors like the Northeast. A USDOT-designated University Transportation Center (UTC) since 1998, research focuses on preserving, rehabilitating, and improving infrastructure; boosting network resilience; reducing life-cycle costs; and increasing mobility and safety.

Center for Ceramic, Composite and Optical Materials (CCOMC)

CCOMC conducts research in a broad area of ceramic and particulate science, engineering and technology to develop the fundamental understanding required to realize the potential of advanced ceramic and composite materials in emerging applications.

Center for Advanced Solid State Ionics and Energy Storage Research

The center is an interdisciplinary group comprising the Energy Storage Research Group and the Advanced Power Prototype Laboratories developing and understanding next generation energy storage materials and energy storage devices.

Center for Structured Organic Particulate Systems (CSOPS)

This National Science Foundation (NSF) funded Engineering Research Center (ERC), which brings together a cross-disciplinary team of engineers and scientists from four major universities including Purdue University, New Jersey Institute of Technology, the University of Puerto Rico at Mayaguez, and Rutgers, works closely with industry leaders and the FDA to improve the way pharmaceuticals, foods and agriculture products are manufactured.

Wireless Information Network Laboratory (WINLAB)

WINLAB was founded at Rutgers in 1989. A collaborative industry and university research center, its mission is to advance the development of wireless networking technology by combing the resources of government, industry and academia. The center’s educational mission is to train the next generation of wireless technologists via graduate research programs that are relevant to industry.
