Moghe to Lead Engineering-Biomedical and Health Sciences Research Alliance

Thomas N. Farris, dean of the School of Engineering at Rutgers University, has appointed Prabhas Moghe to the position of research director for Engineering-Biomedical and Health Sciences Alliances and Partnerships.

Moghe is a distinguished professor of biomedical engineering and chemical and biochemical engineering and has received numerous research and teaching honors, including the first School of Engineering Faculty of the Year Award (2012) and fellowships to the International Societies for Biomaterials Science and Engineering and the American Institute of Medical and Biological Engineering.  A recipient of numerous federal grants totaling over $14M to date, he has directed two successive NSF IGERT programs (2003-2015) and leads two NIH R01 projects, and a Coulter Foundation Biomedical Engineering Translational Award, and is a co-lead of a NIH T32 postdoctoral training program on regenerative medicine.

In this new role, Moghe will coordinate with Christopher Molloy, senior vice president of the Office of Research and Economic Development, and Brian Strom, chancellor of Rutgers Biomedical and Health Sciences, to further develop inter-school programmatic areas of research excellence while strengthening research ties between faculty in the School of Engineering and those in the Rutgers Biomedical and Health Sciences.
