Rutgers School of Engineering is pleased to announce three graduate programs for professionals seeking to enhance their industry practice. The 30-credit degrees—Master of Engineering in Applied Industrial and Systems Engineering, Master of Science in Packaging Engineering, and Master of Engineering in Energy Systems Engineering—combine academic excellence with state-of-the-art research opportunities to propel careers forward.
“These exciting degree options were developed by linking cutting-edge faculty expertise with new and innovative growth industries,” said Henrik Pedersen, the associate dean for Rutgers School of Engineering Academic Programs. “The programs have an interdisciplinary emphasis appropriate for professionals looking to expand their training to meet the demands of new engineering challenges.”
Rutgers’ industrial and systems engineering graduate program—ranked among the top 20 in the nation by U.S. News and World Report— is relevant across a variety of fields, from advanced manufacturing to financial systems and healthcare. Core coursework includes data analytics, decision-making under uncertainty, and planning and operations engineering. Students can then customize their program with a range of electives—spanning supply chain risk management to advanced engineering economics.
The packaging engineering program unites professionals from diverse backgrounds to become experts in current packaging industry needs. A multi-billion dollar industry, the growing field demands an influx of employees with backgrounds in packaging design, manufacturing, and project management. The comprehensive Rutgers University program features a diverse set of courses that includes advanced packaging materials, advanced pharmaceutical packaging, and packaging and the environment.
Rutgers’ energy systems engineering graduate program is a collaborative program resourced through six School of Engineering departments, the Edward J. Bloustein School of Planning and Public Policy, and the Rutgers School of Business. The unique program was developed to drive the world’s clean energy future, covering topics including renewable energy, energy policy, power grid cybersecurity and more. Hands-on learning comprises a significant sector of the program, and students join forces with clean energy centers such as the Rutgers Energy Institute and Rutgers Center for Energy, Economic, and Environmental Policy.
