Richard S. (Rich) Weeks began his career with Weeks Stevedoring in 1970 just before starting college, eventually managing numerous projects in the New York area after completing a joint Bachelors and Masters program in International Studies from John Hopkins University and his MBA from Harvard Business School. Mr. Weeks pursued opportunities in construction, dredging, marine transportation, and chartering, leading over time to the merging of American Dredging, MP Howlett, TL James, Healy Tibbitts, Lahaina Dock and Pile, Gates, and other marine contracting organizations into what is now Weeks Marine, Inc.
Mr. Weeks joined The Moles, a fraternal organization of the heavy construction industry, in 1987 with the sponsorship and support of Bob Gates, Bob Koch, Dick Steers, and other Moles long active in marine contracting. In 2009, he was honored with the Moles' Membership Award.
Mr. Weeks represents the fourth generation of Weeks in business. In addition to Weeks Marine and The Moles, he is also a member of the Dredging Contractors of America, the National Academy of Construction, Construction Industry Round Table, Construction Industry Safety Initiatives, and has served on the boards of the New Jersey Marine Science Consortium, Local 25 Operating Engineer funds, the New York Maritime Association, and, most recently, the Waterfront Alliance. He is also very active with the First Presbyterian Church of New Vernon and was active in Project Children, through which they have hosted many children from Northern Ireland over the past several years.
