Rosen receives 2010 Educator of the Year Award from AHETEMS

New Brunswick, NJ – Dr. Ilene Rosen, Associate Dean for the School of Engineering’s Office of Student Development, was recently awarded the 2010 Educator of the Year Award from the Advancing Hispanic Excellence in Technology, Engineering, Math and Science (AHETEMS) in recognition of her many contributions to improving the learning environment for Hispanic students at Rutgers University.

AHETEMS is a non-profit organization that works exclusively to develop educational enrichment and academic outreach initiatives for the Hispanic community.

The Educator of the Year Award is awarded to one faculty or administrator who has made exemplary contributions in education to the Hispanic community.

Serving as the advisor to the Rutgers Society of Hispanic Engineers (SHE) and establishing the Advisor’s Roundtable for the Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers (SHPE), Rosen truly embodies integrity, commitment, intelligence and strength. Additionally, Rosen administered the Caballero Scholarship and worked with the Paul Robeson Center on the annual Rites of Passage graduation ceremony.

As an advisor to over a hundred students, Dr. Ilene Rosen truly represents one of academia’s most influential agents through her dedication and commitment to serving the Hispanic community.
