About

Michele O'Connor's career began at Rutgers University's College of Engineering, where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering. Since then, she has proven herself to be a leader in the engineering industry.

Ms. O'Connor is currently a Principal at Langan and co-director of the firm's civil engineering practice in New York City. She started at Langan in 1994 as a staff engineer and quickly rose through the ranks of the firm, establishing herself as a land development expert for large-scale urban redevelopment projects.

Throughout her career, Ms. O'Connor has managed numerous groundbreaking projects in the New York Metropolitan area. One of her most notable projects is Hudson Park and Boulevard, a four-acre public park within Hudson Yards. As the project's site/civil and geotechnical engineering consultant, Langan played an integral part during the site's transformation from an industrial neighborhood to a pedestrian-friendly, vibrant, mixed-use district. In 2016, the project was awarded an ACEC New York Engineering Excellence Award for its innovative engineering design and sustainable vision for the area.

Besides her passion for engineering, Ms. O'Connor is extremely passionate about supporting, mentoring, and empowering women in the industry. This dedication inspired her to co-found Women@Langan, where she serves as both a corporate and local leader. Since its launch in 2015, Women@Langan has provided a forum for women to develop a community, share experiences, and form lasting relationships...and its positive impact has stretched far beyond the firm. Through her promotion of the program, leaders throughout the architectural, engineering, and construction industry have sought Ms. O'Connor's advice on best practices and how to execute similar initiatives at their firms.

Ms. O'Connor's leadership abilities are also visible through her work as 2017 President of CREW New York and as a Board Member of Women Builders Council.
