Tilak Lal is the co-head of the Investment Risk Management Group at Franklin Templeton. Mr. Lal joined Franklin Templeton in 2012 as part of the acquisition of K2 Advisors where he was K2’s Chief Risk Officer. Prior to his current role, he led the investment risk management team for Franklin’s alternatives, solutions, global macro, ETFs, liquidity risk and the Luxembourg risk function. Mr. Lal has 22 years of risk management experience. In addition, he serves as the chairman of Franklin Templeton’s Investment Liquidity Committee and is a member of the Complex Securities Review Committee and Counterparty Credit Committee. Mr. Lal holds Chartered Financial Analyst and Financial Risk Manager designations. He also serves as the co-vice chair of the Rutgers University Board of Trustees and also chairs the investment committee of the university’s endowment.

Mr. Lal has a bachelor of science degree in Mechanical Engineering from Rutgers University, a master of science degree in Electrical Engineering from Georgia Institute of Technology, and an MBA in Finance from Columbia Business School.
