Outstanding Scholars Day
Outstanding Scholars Day is an annual event that takes place on the Rutgers-New Brunswick Busch campus, which showcases many of what the Rutgers School of Engineering has to offer the students that have been admitted to the School of Engineering Honors Academy. This year, Outstanding Scholars Day will take place on February 19th, 2018. This half-day long event is ONLY for students that have been accepted to the Engineering Honors Academy. The invitation and acceptance into the Engineering Honors Academy will be sent during the week of February 5th, 2018. Shortly after your acceptance to the Engineering Honors Academy, invitations to the Outstanding Scholars Day will follow.
General Schedule (3/2, 3/30 & 4/6)
At an Admitted Student Event you can expect to meet current students and professors to discuss their experiences at Rutgers as well as take a tour of a specific department. The itinerary will also include a presentation from the School of Engineering, a student panel and an Admissions Busch Campus Walking Tour. You will also choose one of these four options when you register:
Civil engineers design and create virtually all infrastructure, from bridges and highways to airports and sewage treatment facilities. Within civil engineering, there can a be a wide range of specialization and attendees will hear about the curricula and tour research labs to gain insight into what is available to them as a Rutgers student.
Electrical and computer engineers work in a rapidly developing field that encompasses computer systems and software engineering, information processing and systems, and nanotechnology. This program provides students with expertise in a wide range of areas and attendees will hear about the curricula and see student demos and research labs to gain insight into what is available to them as a Rutgers student.
As some of the broadest fields in engineering, mechanical & aerospace engineering extends into a wide range of industries including robotics, energy generation, and naval development. Our students acquire basic principles in design, analysis, and modeling and attendees will hear about the curricula and tour research labs to gain insight into what is available to them as a Rutgers student.
Featuring the following departments: Biomedical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Industrial and Systems Engineering, Materials Science Engineering and Packaging Engineering
- March 2 - Engineering Paths to Graduate School
- March 30 - Engineering & Medicine
- April 6 - Engineering & Business
Students will participate in a discussion of the hot topic with engineering professors from each of the departments listed above. Afterwards, they will visit one of the departments featured in the hot topic panel.
Women in Engineering Schedule (3/23)
The Admitted Student Day on March 23, 2018 will only be for women who have been accepted into the School of Engineering. This is a full day immersion for visiting students and will incorporate many components of a general Admitted Student Event.
On this day you can also expect to meet faculty and students to discuss their experiences at Rutgers and experience firsthand the supportive community of female engineers that is unique to Rutgers. More in-depth than the other general Admitted Student Events, the program also includes lab demos, a faculty panel and research poster displays by undergraduates. Attendees will have the chance to meet members of various engineering student organizations and hear from alumni who have been through it all.
