Broaden your honors network by living in an upper-class honors community! Continuing students enrolled in the Honors College, School of Environmental and Biological Sciences Honors Program, and School of Engineering Honors Academy have the option of applying to live within eight dedicated honors communities throughout the Rutgers-New Brunswick campuses. These integrated communities provide honors students with the opportunity to foster new connections while maintaining a sense of community with their honors cohort. The following locations have been reserved for honors communities for academic year 2016-2017:
- Quad 3 (House 38-39)
College Avenue Campus
Participation in the honors housing process is completely optional. All students must be enrolled in a participating honors program (Honors College, School of Engineering Honors Academy, or School of Environmental and Biological Sciences Honors Program), and maintain good academic and judicial standing. Students who wish to share a room with non-honors students must participate in the general housing lottery. Students must maintain good standing through the Spring 2016 semester in order to keep their honors housing assignment for the 2016-2017 academic year.
Housing Lottery Application
All eligible honors students who wish to reside in honors housing must apply for a lottery number via oncampus.rutgers.edu between January 18, 2016 and January 26, 2016. The date and time you apply does not affect your lottery number. Residence Life will notify students of their lottery number by January 28, 2016.
Honors Housing Application
Once students have been notified of their housing lottery number, they must complete the application for the honors housing option via oncampus.rutgers.edu between January 29, 2016 and January 31, 2016. Students will have the option of requesting their roommates. Each roommate must log onto the on campus portal and input the name and RUID of their desired roommate(s). All roommates must be enrolled in a participating honors program. All roommate requests must be mutually requested in order to qualify as a confirmed group.
Students who apply for The Yard, BEST, and Newell will receive an email on February 2, 2016 notifying them of their eligibility. Students who apply to live in McCormick, Thomas, Campbell, Quad 3, and New Gibbons will be notified of their eligibility on February 4, 2016. Eligible groups will be provided with a selection date and time based on their group size and lottery number.
Room selection will take place online at oncampus.rutgers.edu between February 3, 2016 and February 5, 2016. Only one roommate needs to log into the system to select a room assignment. Room assignments may not be changed once selected. Once a student accepts a space within an honors community, they will not be permitted to participate in any other room selection process.
Please note: The Office of Residence Life reserves the right to reassign rooms if the community needs to be consolidated.
Once a community has been filled, students will be waitlisted based on their lottery number. Students will be notified of vacancies as they become available. Waitlisted students may choose to participate in the general housing lottery process. Students who do not participate in the honors housing application process will not be considered for vacancies.
